Sync between Desktop, Laptop
Hi!
I have been using the trial version and want to upgrade to pro but want to be sre there is a fix for this issue before spending the $$.
I did a bunch of set-up work on my desktop and while away on business realized the setup was incorrect so I sepnt a buch of time editing projects, focuses, tasks, subtasks, etc.
I am back to the office now and when I open Outlook on this machine all the work I did on my laptop is not there save a couple of project files. None of the new projects, focuses, filtered tasks, sub tasks made the transition to the desktop. I have looked repeatedly for some help as to the correct set-up for sync between the two machines via exchange and it looks like it should just do it. Any help would be appreciated!

Exchange - how it works
Chris -
Thanks for the note -
The way it works in v3.5 or later (the data store was moved from the calendar to a hidden e-mail message in the default inbox) is the projects and focuses names and properties are stored in an XML file that should be sync'ing between all of your machines connected to the Exchange server. The only way for those to get out of sync is if one machines updates have not yet been propagated to Exchange, i.e. the machine has not been connected to the network and ultimately to the Exchange server. Or if in the sync'ing the objects collided, i.e. the object changed on the laptop and the desktop and one copy was lost.
The tasks sync via Exchange, i.e. Ceptara doesn't attempt to sync them in any shared way. So if tasks are missing, it's because Exchange hasn't sync'd those objects between the original machine [Laptop] (i.e. the one that created the task) and the server and therefore would not be available to the other machine [Desktop].
I would focus on making sure the Outlook objects, e.g. tasks, mail, contacts, etc. are sync'ing successfully between the machines using the Exchange server. Once your convinced that everything is connecting and sync'ing as expected, then focus on the projects and focuses.
Hope that's useful.
Thx
Chris

I reviewed my tasks and found that the projects and focuses I had created on my laptop did transfer but only in the task itself, it did not create the project or focus in the project explorer. I manually added each to project explorer and the tasks sorted themselves accordingly. There must be a glitch in my setup somewhere that is preventing this from happening - have you seen this before? Thanks for your quick reply on the last one, much appriciated!
